We have 90xli pinsetters at our center that were put in almost 2 years ago. Recently, a couple of lanes started having respot problems. At random times, when cycling after first ball is thrown, the table will lower but would not pick up pins. This results in leaving a blank deck for the second shot. After talking to an AMF professional tech, he mentioned to try a respot adjustment, and a pawl adjustment. After completing both, the problem still persists. Sometimes it happens 3 times in 2 hours, other times it doesnt happen for 15-20 games. Any ideas? |

I need to know how low the table is going, are the cups hitting the tops of the pins when this happens. Sounds like the table is going or trying to go down to spot level and this could be caused by the table drive unit. The block part number 070 001 898 must drop into the eccentric # 070 001 877 on 1st ball. when the table spots the block comes out of the eccentricPinspotter Tech, AMF Technical Support Division |

The table lowers so that the pin cups are 1'' 1/2 above the tops of the pins, consistent with the rest of the bowling center. We checked the block and eccentric. The block falls into the eccentric even when the table fails to pick up the pins. When the problem happens, the table lowers to the exact position it should. The table just fails to pick up the remaining pins on the deck. 2 of our 8 lanes have this problem. On one of the lanes, when the table fails to pick up pins, the respot cells close when the table is in the home position waiting for the second ball to be thrown. Once a new set of pins is set, the respot cells open and the machine works fine for another 5-6 games and the problem happens again The other lane with this problem, just fails to pick up pins at random times

This sounds like you have a problem with the finger link (070002590) actuating the pawl. This could be caused by a bad pivot weldment (070001804) or spring (070001807). Watch this machine in this area to see if that is where your problem is (it may take a while before it will happen with you watching it however!).BillyT QubicaAMF Tech Support |

We were actually able to be looking at the table when the problem happened. We noticed that with the tension on the pawl spring, it would get stuck straight up not allowing the actuator to trigger the movement of the fingers. Once the machine would make enough movement, the pawl would return to the lower position, allowing the machine to work properly until it got stuck again. We greased the pawl, and put the spring in a position where it would not cause the pawl to stick in the upper position. Thanks for all your help! North Dakota State University Bowling Center
